The purchase, redevelopment and populating of Binn Group’s first urban satellite centre is complete with the Shore Road Recycling Centre in Perth now fully operational.

The site’s two-storey offices now house Binn Group’s administration, finance and sales department staff – relocated from the Binn Ecopark headquarters at Glenfarg – dovetailing key elements  of the company’s operation in one modern, open-plan environment.

The 20-strong workforce shares the facility with a six-strong team operating the recycling facility.

Significant investment in the yard has seen the site cleared, segregated and redeveloped with a newly-installed full length weighbridge and individual waste stream bays for offloading and sorting.

The receiving, sorting and recycling of scrap metal remains a primary function at the Shore Road centre with.

One of the other key functions of the new city site is to act as a transfer station and bulking operation before waste progresses to Binn’s major recycling centre at Glenfarg.

In addition to being a major waste metal collection centre, Shore Road is also handling increasing quantities of redundant tyres, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), white goods, bicycles, glass and general industrial waste.

“We are constantly reviewing the services offered at Shore Road with a view to expanding the operation there,” explained Binn Group Chief Executive Allan MacGregor.

“The site has huge potential and represents a major stepping stone in our medium to long term vision to establish satellite hubs in key city centres elsewhere in Scotland.”
