Workmates muck in for charity challenge

Binn Group hand over cheques to CHAS and SPEAK

It was one challenge where the staff at Binn Group were happy to muck up!

When recruits were needed for the punishing Tough Mudder 5k assault course at Edinburgh, 43 workmates got down and dirty to raise a magnificent £5,623 for charity.

The intrepid team recently handed over cheques to their two chosen local causes – CHAS children’s cancer support charity at Rachael House and Perth-based SPEAK mental health support charity.

The obstacle challenge in Holyrood Park pushed participants to the limit as they scrambled under nets and over terrifyingly high walls – as well as running across rough and open ground.

Binn Group’s team was the largest to enter this year’s popular sponsored challenge.

“It was a long exhausting effort,” explained Binn Group Operations Supervisor Charlene McOmish who pulled the team together for the challenge. “But we started together and we finished together with the stronger participants helping their colleagues every step of the way. It was teamwork that got each and every one of us across that finishing line.”

“We might not have been the youngest, fittest or leanest,” said Charlene, “but we were the most determined and supportive group out there and we were determined not to leave anyone behind. It was a tremendous team-building day for the staff and the buzz of getting everyone through the obstacles and over the line was just amazing.

“I’m so proud of what we all achieved for our two chosen charities and everyone is already signing up for next year,” she said.
