Binn Group manager turns on to SWITCH

Jim Brown

Binn Group commercial manager Jim Brown has been co-opted to serve on the Scottish Waste Industry Training, Competency, Health & Safety Forum (SWITCH).

This relatively new body is a multi partnership forum made up of organisations across all sectors within the Resource Management (RM) Industry. Its purpose is to provide leadership for the RM sector by working collaboratively to raise standards within the sector regarding Health & Safety, training, learning & development and technical competence.

Jim will sit on both the Health & Safety working group and the executive committee and hopes to bring experience and vision to the table.

“I was delighted to be invited to participate in this forum. I think it is good to represent not only Binn Group but SMEs and the waste industry in general and help give them a voice on this national body.

This new forum will help promote and develop a framework of skills and competency requirements for the industry and link that to business effectiveness and efficiency.

I hope to bring my many years of experience – particularly working with SMEs and the many challenges they face – to the forum and play my part in working with regulators and policy makers to keep improving the resource management industry.”

Initially set up by Zero Waste Scotland, SWITCH is chaired by Adrian Bond, national operations manager with SEPA, and is effectively the Scottish equivalent of the WISH forum which operates south of the border.
