Binn Group backs promising Scottish squash player

Binn Group brand and marketing manager Louise MacGregor wishes squash player Rory Stewart well for the coming season wearing the Binn Group branding on his shirt.

One of Scotland’s most promising young squash players is making his mark on the world circuit – with a little help from Binn Group.

The waste management and recycling company is proud to be a sponsor for 21-year-old Rory Stewart from Muthill as he opens his second season on the Professional Squash Association World Tour.

And already the country’s Number 5 is making his mark, having beaten a player in the world top 100 for the first time in the early rounds of the recent World Games in Poland.

Last year, Rory managed to climb over 200 places in the world ranking and this season he’s determined to push even higher.

“Support from sponsors such as Binn Group help keep the dream alive,” he said. “I’m proud to wear their name on my shirt.

“It would be almost impossible to progress in my sport without backing from supporters such as Binn Group. Their input allows me to attend games and events around the world and make my mark in the sport.”

As the youngest member of the Scottish squad, Rory believes he is just coming into his prime. Having secured an HNC in Sports Coaching and Development at Heriot Watt University, Rory now works as a part-time coach at two private sports clubs in the capital to help finance his competition circuit.

Last year Rory helped Scotland secure a Bronze Medal in the European Championships – a podium placing for Scotland for the first time in 17 years.

“The next challenge is the Barcelona Squash Open in September where I’ll be up against some top players,” explained Rory, “but I have to be able to compete at this level to advance through the ranks and that’s why support such as that from Binn Group is so vital.”

Binn Group Commercial Director Jim Brown said the company was delighted to support such a promising young sportsman through the early stages of his career.
“Rory has a fantastic future ahead of him,” he said. “Binn Group is delighted to back someone of his commitment and ability and hopefully provide the springboard for one of our top sportsmen of the future.”
