St Andrews Links Trust is a charitable organisation responsible for the management and maintenance of St Andrews Links, the Home of Golf.
Today the Links is recognised as Europe’s biggest golf complex, home to seven public golf courses, including the world’s most famous Links, the Old Course.
More than 230,000 rounds of golf a year are played on the Links courses, each helping to attract thousands of golfers from around the world to walk the hallowed turf and enjoy our five-star facilities, including the Links, Eden and Castle Course clubhouses, the Golf Academy, five shops and a host of facilities designed to deliver memorable experiences to every visitor at the Links.
More than 350 permanent and seasonal staff uphold the long-standing values integral to the Links history, including innovation, sustainability, passion and an ever-present awareness of the rich living landscape the Links is built upon. In the 21st Century we seek to nurture more than 600 years of heritage and serve as a standard bearer for good practice in golf management.
In recent years this has been reflected in our sustainability commitments, not only the practices carried out on the golf courses but the eco-friendly manner in which the clubhouses, retail outlets and other facilities are operated.
In June 2013 with the Waste Scotland Regulations (2012) coming into force the Links sought not only to comply but to use the change in legislation as a platform to exceed two of our key business objectives; maintaining the Living Landscape; and running a Disciplined Business.
Working closely with the Binn Group to meet the challenges facing our business they helped us to identify, develop and deliver workable cost-effective disposal arrangements for waste materials. Across the diverse business operation at the Links their recommendations helped to streamline our waste, helping us to achieve one of our primary ambitions of zero waste to landfill.
That we were able to achieve this goal so quickly and efficiently is testimony to our long-standing relationship with Binn Group, which has been built upon our shared commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence.
