Binn Group is delighted to be working with Intu Braehead Shopping Centre and Soar at Intu Braehead near Glasgow to deliver our largest retail and leisure operation waste management contract to date.
The vast development produces thousands of tonnes of waste each year and Binn Group is on site daily to manage the waste streams generated from both the retail complex and the multi-strand leisure centre – including winter sports arenas, restaurants, cinema, shops and cafes.
This involves collection from numerous segregated waste points around the “mini town”, including those for food, glass, cardboard, mixed and general waste.
Intu Braehead is the country’s largest complex of its kind and Binn Group is proud to have been selected to manage their waste collection and recycling needs.
Commercial Director Jim Brown explained that the three-year contract was a real feather in the Glenfarg company’s cap.
“We know that Intu Braehead and Soar at Intu have huge aspirations for improving their environmental impact and for them to contract us to help them drive and assist them on that journey is tremendous,” he said.
“We fully appreciate how important waste management, recycling and waste reduction are to all businesses but especially to one the size and reputation of Intu Braehead and we very much look forward to helping them achieve their goals in this respect.”
The vast majority of food and material waste streams generated at Braehead – which welcomes over 20 million visitors each year – will be diverted by Binn Group to produce energy or recycled for new products.
