The Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards has been supported by the company for the past three years. And at the 2018 awards ceremony, Binn Group CEO Allan MacGregor announced to a delighted audience of over 400 local businessmen and women that their supportive role as major sponsor would continue through to the 2020 event.
“I strongly believe in the Chamber movement as an organisation that nurtures and supports local business,” said Allan.
“I take great pride in watching businesses that have come in to the Chamber as new starts developing both through their own endeavours and the support of contacts made through the business network. The current economic climate is of concern and therefore the support of an organisation whose purpose is to share contacts and help businesses is more important now than ever before.
“The Star Awards is the annual showcase that sees businesses celebrate their achievements and reflect on the year past while looking forward to the challenges and potential of the future,” said Allan. “We’re delighted to extend our sponsorship for a further two years and play a key role in delivering this fantastic business celebration.
“It is an event that everyone looks forward to and there is an amazing buzz and air of positivity around it that is palpable. It is also an event where new and growing businesses share the same limelight as the area’s largest established companies – an opportunity they wouldn’t have anywhere else in front of such a large and supportive audience.”
Allan is also a key supporter and major driver of the bid to establish a Perthshire Young Chamber and has served as a mentor for several young people through the Chamber Mentoring programme.
“There is a big future for young people in Perth and Kinross,” he said, “and having a Young Chamber gives them a platform to learn from each other and share their thoughts and ideas while drawing on the experience and knowledge of their older established mentors.”
