Binn Group heads north to support Scotland’s fishing industry

Binn Group has secured the contract to handle all waste from the Thistle Seafoods Peterhead processing plant.

A minimum three-year contract will involve removing around 25 tonnes of waste each week by covered bulk containers from the North East site for recycling or reprocessing.

The bulk of the refuse stream from Thistle Seafoods is food waste but Binn Group will also take on the management of all residual waste.

Group Commercial Director Jim Brown said the contract represented Binn Group’s furthest push north and expressed delight that the company’s reputation for quality service and value for money was reaching an ever-increasing area of Scotland.

“Customers such as Thistle Seafoods recognise that we can safely transport food waste from their processing plant to our own on-site Anaerobic Digestion complex at Binn Ecopark,” he said, “allowing vast quantities of food waste to be reprocessed into fuel.

“Pushing this far north shows that Binn Group provides a logistical solution for processing plants such as Thistle Seafoods no matter where they are in Scotland.

“We’re also delighted to be taking up the management of the Peterhead company’s complete waste streams including cardboard, plastics, glass etc. and look forward to working with them to safeguard their Green credentials in the months and years ahead.”
