Securing future success
Binn Group is helping a Perth Sports team to future success by securing a significant sponsorship deal. We stepped in to support transport costs for the remainder of Perth City Swim Club’s 2019 Midland Premier Division campaign. The partnership with the club was revealed as the team set off for the season’s second gala in Kinross.
Group Finance Director David Sanderson and Brand and Marketing Manager Louise MacGregor were on hand to meet the team, who won the league title last season. Swim Club President Carol McPartland welcomed the news and said it was a great boost to have transport costs covered for the rest of the league season. She said: “Our league team has been very successful in recent seasons and hopefully that will continue for many years to come.
“The league events are particularly helpful in giving our younger swimmers vital race experience in a fun and friendly atmosphere.”
Head coach Ann Dickson firmly believes it is important for the team to travel together to these events as being on the coach helps foster a positive team spirit. “Of course, that involves a significant cost over the course of four ‘away’ galas in Arbroath, Forfar, Dundee and Kinross this year.”
Carol said the league team had been running at a loss and had relied on the efforts of the club’s fundraising committee to support it for many years. She said the Binn Group sponsorship would let the league team break even without having to put up the costs for the swimmers taking part.
“We are very grateful to Binn Group for this funding as it helps to keep our sport accessible for all and that is important for the club.”
Previous swimmers who honed their race technique in the Perth City league team include World Champion and Olympic medallist Stephen Milne, Olympian Camilla Hattersley and Scott McLay, Scotland’s most successful Commonwealth Youth Games athlete ever.
David Sanderson said: “It is important to Binn Group to reinvest in our local community and we are delighted to form this link with Perth City Swim Club.
“The club has a proven record of helping youngsters reach their goals and their league team provides a pathway for some to go on to national and international competition.
“For us to play a small part in that journey by keeping costs down for swimmers and parents is very satisfying and we wish the team good luck for the rest of the season.”
News of the sponsorship deal provided the ideal boost for the team ahead of the weekend gala, as they came from behind to win and retain top place in the league.
